Paleis Het Loo is a stunning baroque hunting palace located on the outskirts of Apeldoorn, has undergone an impressive transformation in which we at KOLEN proudly supplied and installed the natural stone. This ambitious project adds more than 5,000 m² of new facilities and spaces, while fully preserving the palace’s historic charm.
At KOLEN, we are honoured to have contributed to the renovation of Paleis Het Loo, where historical grandeur and modern refinement come together through our natural stone.
The architect's design combines an underground extension that seamlessly integrates with the existing site. A new water feature enhances the opulent Baroque gardens and water elements of the palace, creating an even more impressive landscape.
The Bassecour courtyard between the palace wings has been transformed into a stunning space featuring a central fountain and glass surfaces, adorned with natural stone and flowing water. These elements not only reflect the historic gardens but also allow daylight to beautifully filter through the palace.
The entry pavilions guide visitors to the Grand Foyer, the central hub of the extension, where Baroque symmetry and modern elegance converge beneath an impressive glass roof. In the Grand Foyer, a large compass rose marks the expansion and directs visitors to exhibition halls, a children's museum, and a permanent exhibition on Dutch royal history.
The new facilities include exhibition halls, a children’s museum and a permanent exhibition on the history of the Dutch royal family. The palace has also been carefully restored, featuring improved technology and climate-control systems. A new staircase has also been added, offering panoramic views of the grounds.
Throughout the new extension, the finishes are elegant and subtle, with a harmonious blend of textures and materials. Our natural marble, featuring various finishes, plays a crucial role in this, alongside walnut wood and luxurious fabrics with metallic threads used throughout, reflecting the gardens and the opulent halls of the original palace. At KOLEN, we are honoured to have contributed to the renovation of Paleis Het Loo, where historical grandeur and modern refinement come together through our natural stone.
