Nieuw Bergen will be a unique addition to Eindhoven's city centre, thanks to the combination of renovated buildings and new construction. The project covers 29,000 m² and includes seven buildings, featuring 220 residential units, 1,700 m² of commercial space, 270 m² of urban farming area, and an underground parking garage.

The roofs of Nieuw Bergen are designed as traditional gabled roofs with a 45-degree slope. This choice maximises sunlight entry into both the residential units and public spaces, contributing to an optimal living environment and significant energy savings. This innovative design is an evolution of the urban strategy tool developed by MVRDV and is applied in cities requiring sustainable densification.
The seven distinct buildings of Nieuw Bergen, while different from one another, together form a harmonious whole that fits like a mosaic within the existing context. For the ceramic façades, we at Kolen have chosen neutral colours and textured materials with subtle variations. The façades are complemented by elements of stone, wood, and concrete, ranging from white to grey, and a texture gradient from smooth to rough.
Construction of Nieuw Bergen began in early 2023, with an expected completion in mid-2026. We provide regular project updates through our social media channels and website.
